Hampton University Proton Cancer Institute (Hampton Proton) is seeking a Healthcare Data Analyst to gather, analyze, compile and present a wide range of data to include operational metrics, revenue cycle, workflow management data, clinical research and other data in an array of multiple software programs.

Hampton Proton is the nation’s 8th proton therapy facility and one of the largest free-standing proton clinics in the world. The state-of-the-art treatment and research center has four gantry rooms and one fixed beam room. Hampton Proton has been treating a variety of cancers since August 2010.

Healthcare Data Analyst

The Healthcare Data Analyst reports to the Director of Information Technology and indirectly to the Executive Director.

The role ensures that data is gathered and reported in a concise, accurate, and secure manner. The key tasks of the Healthcare Data Analyst are to produce meaningful data driven reports for the facility. Handles confidential financial and revenue cycle information, as well as proprietary patient information. Requires the ability to collect, synthesize and validate complex data from multiple sources, provide intellectual rigor to analysis and interpretation processes, and derive meaningful insights that support the achievement of strategic and operational goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with business users to understand their business processes; gather and document requirements; translate requirements into functional specifications for dashboards and reports.
  • Assist in the development of data governance processes which entails documentation and implementation of data quality policies, procedures and standards to ensure a high level of data integrity
  • Design, create, and update data infrastructure to hasten data analysis and reporting processes.
  • Create ad-hoc queries and reports.
  • Perform internal data audits for respective departments related to data integrity and quality.
  • Create presentations, articles, graphs, and tables for operational and executive leadership meetings and reports.
  • Establish operational standards for managing, preserving and presenting data.
  • Evaluate system performance and provide recommendations for hardware, software, and data storage enhancements to assure data and information is secure.
  • Monitor the usage of data systems that have an influence on analytical reports.
  • Analyze revenue cycle data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement in billing, collections, and overall financial performance.
  • Assure the efficient operation of workflow by performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, business intelligence, decision information sciences, computer science, computer engineering, or closely related subject is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel required.
  • Ability to use SQL, Python, Pandas, and REST APIs, Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau to retrieve, process, integrate and present data from various sources.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in healthcare data administration and analysis.
  • Healthcare environment and revenue cycle experience is a plus.
