SKY4's Recap of our 2024 Men's Health Fair
Because September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, Hampton Proton’s third annual Prostate Cancer and Men's Health Awareness Fair aims to provide the Hampton Roads community with meaningful and relevant information regarding physical and mental wellbeing.
Our Why
Prostate cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in men and is the second leading cause of cancer related deaths. According to the Hampton Roads Prostate Health Forum (HRPHF), 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer; and for Black men, the risk of dying from low-grade prostate cancer is double that of any other race. The Fair is to create awareness, educate, and help prevent unnecessary deaths by encouraging early detection screenings. At the same time, we hope to use the opportunity to encourage healthier lifestyles for all by promoting ways to live healthier lives physically and mentally.
NFL retirees including Aaron Brooks, Billy McMullen and Wali Rainer spoke at Hampton Proton's Men's Health Fair in 2023
Purpose
As the only proton therapy center owned and affiliated with an HBCU, we are driven by reducing the statistics and providing resources and tools to help the men in Hampton Roads live healthier lives.

NFL Hall of Famer Bruce Smith speaks with a Hampton Proton Health Fair attendee after the NFL Panel Discussion.
