The Hampton University Proton Cancer Institute (Hampton Proton) is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator to support the Human Resources Department by coordinating various HR related functions and responsibilities efficiently.

Hampton Proton is the nation’s 8th proton therapy facility and one of the largest free-standing proton clinics in the world. The state-of-the-art treatment and research center has four gantry rooms and one fixed beam room.  Hampton Proton has been treating a variety of cancers since August 2010.

Human Resources Coordinator

The HR Coordinator reports directly to the HR Manager.  The HR Coordinator provides support for the greater purpose of the HR department by performing tasks collaboratively with the HR Manager.  The HR Coordinator provides a combination of routine, technical, and administrative work with exceptional customer service.  The HR Coordinator oversees the recruiting and onboarding process, assists employees with questions, and fully engages in our all-staff team building initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Posting on careers page(s), pre-screening applications, coordinating interviews, credentialing candidates, managing the new hire onboarding processes, orientation, training, and ensuring personnel files are complete.
  • Collect and track annual license/certificate accreditations for staff and support annual compliance training.
  • Ensure the most up-to-date labor law posters are posted in appropriate breakrooms around the facility.
  • Complete verification of employment forms, unemployment claims, and other claims or forms.
  • Create employee newsletters/announcements, update operating procedures/policies, and new hire forms.
  • Process data entry to the HRIS/HCM for the organizational chart, staff directory, AAP reporting, benefits administration, and payroll administration.
  • Prepare employee engagement events such as Employee of the Month, Work Anniversaries, Birthdays, Department Appreciation, & Quarterly All Staff Events.
  • Assist with employment reimbursement packets and review HR-related invoices.
  • Attend meetings for employee relations matters, employee focus groups, and exit interviews as needed.
  • Assist with the performance review processes, job description reviews, and updating employee progress.
  • Ensure the efficient operation of workflow by performing other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Be proficient in spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure.

  • Strong attention to detail, high-quality results results-oriented, and deadline-driven.
  • Successfully handles challenges with emotional intelligence to achieve conflict resolution.

Requirements:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, or a closely related subject.
  • At least 2 years of working experience in an HR administrative role.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment regulations.
  • Intermediate experience with computer software programs (Microsoft Suite, Teams, OneDrive, HRIS/HCM).
  • Be able to physically lift, pull, push, and move up to 25 pounds. Sit for long periods.
